Earle brings his notoriously outspoken attitude to satellite radio as he joins the other misfits, outcasts, rebels and renegades of country music also featured on SIRIUS XM's Outlaw Country channel, created and executive produced by "Little Steven" Van Zandt. The weekly, hour-long show provides a forum for the legendary rebel troubadour to discuss great songs and the songwriting process.
The season's first show will be a tribute to his friend and mentor Townes Van Zandt, including tracks from Earle's new album, Townes, a collection of Townes Van Zandt songs. The season launch will feature covers of Van Zandt's songs by Lyle Lovett, Cowboy Junkies, Gillian Welch, Robert Earl Keen, Emmylou Harris and others.
Steve Earle's new album, Townes was released May 12 via New West Records. It debuted at #19 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart (Earle's highest debut on that chart) as well as #6 on the Billboard Country Chart. It is the highly-anticipated follow-up to his Grammy Award(R)-winning album, Washington Square Serenade, which was the follow-up to the Grammy-winning The Revolution Starts...Now. Steve Earle is also recognized as an actor on HBO's distinguished series The Wire, as well as the author of the critically acclaimed collection of short stories, Doghouse Roses. Steve Earle began his national tour in support of Townes on Thursday, May 28.
