Smith, the director of such acclaimed films as Clerks and Chasing Amy, invites listeners into his world to hang out on SModcast — an uncensored, unscripted and unpredictable program on which he shares observations/musings on any topic on his mind: politics, sex, comic books, food, technology, religion, and beyond.

Smith and Scott Mosier, his longtime producing partner and co-host, will create an exclusive episode of SModcast for SIRIUS XM each month.

Smith, an old friend and frequent guest of SIRIUS XM hosts Opie & Anthony, made the announcement on their popular morning show today.

"I'm ecstatic to be a part of the SIRIUS XM family and hope folks find our SModcast program as funny as we do," said Kevin Smith. "I loved when The Virus promoted SModcast, back when we first launched the show because, every now and then, I'd be driving around listening to XM and catch SModcast on satellite radio."

"I have been a fan of Kevin Smith's sharp wit, keen eye, creativity and independent spirit for many years," said Scott Greenstein, President and Chief Content Officer, SIRIUS XM Radio. "SIRIUS XM is thrilled to bring his unfiltered voice and perspective of the world to millions of listeners across the country."

Smith's SModcast program debuts on SIRIUS XM on Saturday, September 25 at 1:00 pm ET on The Virus, XM channel 202 and SIRIUS channel 197 as part of the "Best of XM" package, with an original, never before heard episode, and will air weekly during that timeslot.  To celebrate the launch, SIRIUS XM will air a SModcast marathon on Sunday, September 26 from 7:00 ammidnight ET. The SModcast marathon will feature a replay of the new show as well as episodes from Smith's SModcast archives.

Smith's directorial debut Clerks earned him a cult following and critical acclaim. His other feature films include Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Dogma, Chasing Amy, Mallrats, and Zack and Miri Make a Porno. He recently published a comic book version of The Green Hornet and his next project, the "political horror film" Red State, is slated to hit theaters in 2011.

SIRIUS XM's The Virus features intense, edgy talk and uncensored comedy from Opie & Anthony, Ron and Fez and Jason Ellis. For more information visit www.xmradio.com and www.sirius.com.
