Miesha Tate and A.J. Hawk Join SiriusXM’s MMA Talk Lineup

Sep 12, 2017

Tate, the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion and Hawk, the former NFL linebacker and a devoted MMA enthusiast, will be heard on the SiriusXM Rush channel

Will be featured hosts on new show, “MMA Today”

NEW YORK – September 12, 2017 – SiriusXM today announced that former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate and former Green Bay Packers linebacker and devoted MMA enthusiast A.J. Hawk have joined the roster of hosts covering the world of mixed martial arts on the SiriusXM Rush channel, home of SiriusXM’s combat sports programming.

Tate and Hawk will be featured hosts on MMA Today, an exclusive new show airing every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (6:00-8:00 pm ET) on SiriusXM Rush (channel 93 on satellite radios and the SiriusXM app). Hawk can be heard every Tuesday and Thursday with co-host and SiriusXM veteran RJ Clifford. Tate makes her debut tomorrow, September 13, and will host every Wednesday alongside former UFC fighter and veteran radio personality Sean O’Connell.

“When I got the opportunity to host my own radio show on SiriusXM it was a no brainer,” said Tate.  “Yes, of course I want to join the biggest radio company out there and have the chance to talk to MMA fans all across the country!  I’m excited to share what I’ve learned from my time in and out of the octagon.  Sean and I will have a lot of fun talking about life, MMA and more! I can't wait to begin!”

“I have always gravitated to anything related to combat sports.  I watch fighting and football, and I jump at the chance to talk about both,” said Hawk.  “I played in the NFL for 11 years and loved the physical nature of the sport, and I have watched and respected MMA and its athletes for many years.  I'm excited for the future of all things MMA, and the opportunity to join SiriusXM Rush and talk combat sports with R.J. is a dream come true.”

“Miesha and A.J. are outstanding additions to the SiriusXM Rush roster and this is an exciting step for us as we continue to grow the channel and deliver fans the best in combat sports coverage,” said Steve Cohen, SiriusXM’s SVP of Sports Programming.  “As athletes they have reached the pinnacle of their sports, and they have a passion for MMA that many fans will identify with. MMA Today is a must listen for MMA fans.”

Tate won the UFC Women’s Bantamweight title on March 5, 2016 (UFC 196) when she defeated Holly Holm by technical submission in the fifth round. Tate competed and won titles in Freestyle Cage Fighting and Strikeforce before joining UFC. Prior to her mixed martial arts career, Tate won the state championship as a high school wrestler in Washington and won the silver medal in the 2008 FILA Grappling World Championships.

Hawk is a longtime, dedicated mixed martial arts fan who made MMA training an integral part of his regimen to prepare for the NFL season.  In his nine seasons with the Green Bay Packers he played in all but two of a possible 144 regular-season games, starting 136 of them, and he helped lead the Packers to victory in Super Bowl XLV.  Hawk retired from the NFL following the 2016 season and focused on his broadcasting career, which he had begun developing with the launch of his podcast, “The Hawkcast,” while still an active player.  In addition to hosting MMA Today, Hawk can also be heard on the SiriusXM NFL Radio and SiriusXM College Sports Nation channels.

SiriusXM Rush, channel 93 on satellite radios and on the SiriusXM app, is home to SiriusXM’s MMA and boxing shows and more.  For more info on the channel’s programming and personalities go to www.SiriusXM.com/SiriusXMRush.
